Suzhou, Jiangsu, China – September 03, 2026

Project Overview

APMC has successfully completed the manufacturing, testing, delivery and on-site acceptance of a 10 MW (10,000 kW) high-speed gearbox designed for demanding industrial compression, energy and rotating equipment applications.

The newly delivered 10 MW high-speed speed increaser gearbox features a three-stage transmission design with an input speed of 1,500 rpm and two high-speed outputs operating at 7,000 rpm and 9,000 rpm. This configuration provides a high-power transmission solution for industrial equipment requiring high rotational speeds and reliable continuous operation.

10 MW High-Speed Gearbox with Dual High-Speed Outputs

One of the key features of this gearbox is its dual high-speed output configuration.

A single gearbox integrates two high-speed output shafts with operating speeds of 7,000 rpm and 9,000 rpm.

The gearbox is designed with a 1,500 rpm input speed and a three-stage speed-increasing configuration.

This combination of 10 MW power, high rotational speed and dual high-speed outputs makes the gearbox suitable for demanding industrial transmission applications where high-speed operation and transmission stability are critical.

Designed for High-Speed Industrial Transmission

A 10 MW high-speed gearbox operating at up to 9,000 rpm requires careful control of gear accuracy, shaft strength, bearing performance, dynamic balance, lubrication, thermal conditions and assembly accuracy.

Unlike conventional industrial gearboxes, high-speed transmission systems must maintain stable gear meshing and mechanical performance under demanding rotational conditions.

APMC controls key manufacturing processes from gear production and heat treatment to precision grinding, gear inspection, dynamic balancing, gearbox assembly and testing.

Large-Diameter Gear Manufactured to ISO 4 Accuracy

The main gear of the gearbox has a diameter of approximately 2 meters and is manufactured using precision gear machining and grinding processes.

The gear achieves ISO 4 accuracy, providing the dimensional and geometric precision required for high-speed transmission applications.

For large-diameter gears operating at high rotational speeds, gear accuracy can directly affect gear meshing performance, load distribution, vibration and noise, bearing loading, transmission efficiency, operating stability and service life.

APMC controls the manufacturing process from gear cutting and carburizing heat treatment to precision grinding and final inspection.

Successful First-Pass Commissioning and Acceptance

Following manufacturing and factory testing, the 10 MW high-speed gearbox was delivered for installation and commissioning.

During the initial commissioning and operational acceptance test, the gearbox achieved 100% first-pass acceptance. The unit completed the required operating tests without adjustment or corrective intervention during the acceptance process.

For compressor and turbine applications, commissioning performance is particularly important because gearbox operation directly affects the availability and reliability of the complete rotating equipment package.

Integrated Real-Time Condition Monitoring

The 10 MW high-speed gearbox can be equipped with an integrated real-time condition monitoring system for continuous monitoring of critical operating parameters.

Depending on system requirements, monitoring can include bearing vibration, bearing temperature, gearbox temperature, torque, load distribution and gear mesh operating conditions.

Operating data can be transmitted to the plant control system for real-time monitoring and analysis.

For high-speed machinery, condition monitoring can help identify abnormal operating conditions at an early stage and support predictive maintenance and reduced unplanned downtime.
