Entrepreneur, educator and author Jai Long believes one of the biggest mistakes people make is trying to find the “perfect” career.
Instead, he has spent more than two decades building businesses across multiple industries, following curiosity rather than certainty.
Long’s entrepreneurial journey began at just 20 years old when he opened his first café. Since then, he has built businesses spanning photography, education, live events, digital products, property investment and media, mentoring thousands of entrepreneurs while helping redefine what a modern creative career can look like.
Today, he is the founder of Longhouse Press, host of the Make Your Break Podcast, creator of the Six-Figure Business Map, founder of the Wedding Photography Summit, and author of the upcoming book Make Your Break (Publish date: November 3rd, 2026)
“People often ask me which business made me successful,” says Long. “The truth is, none of them did on their own. Every business taught me a different lesson. Success wasn’t built by finding one perfect idea—it came from staying curious enough to keep building.”
Throughout his career, Long has photographed more than 500 weddings, produced one of the world’s largest online photography conferences, built one of Australia’s leading education businesses for creative entrepreneurs, and spoken at workshops and conferences around the world.
His upcoming book, Make Your Break, draws together the lessons from that journey, encouraging readers to embrace change, challenge limiting beliefs and create opportunities in an increasingly uncertain world.
Long believes today’s entrepreneurs have access to more opportunity than any generation before them, but only if they are willing to adapt, continue learning and build skills that technology cannot replace.
Rather than defining himself by a single career, Long sees entrepreneurship as an ongoing practice of solving problems, creating value and remaining open to reinvention.
“The businesses have changed,” says Long. “The mission hasn’t. I’ve always wanted to help people realise they’re capable of far more than they believe.”
Through his businesses, podcast, speaking engagements and writing, Long continues to encourage entrepreneurs and creatives to think differently, build boldly and create work that aligns with the life they want to live.
