Texas City, Texas – October 12, 2026 – Aquatic Pools, a custom gunite pool and spa builder based in Texas City, now designs custom pools into photographs of each homeowner’s own backyard. The approach lets families in Galveston County and the Houston Bay Area see how a pool designed for their yard would look in place, with their own house, fence line and trees in the picture, before construction begins.

The process starts with a visit to the home. Aquatic Pools photographs the yard and takes measurements, and the homeowner and the company walk the space together to review what the site allows, including easements and homeowners association rules. Once a layout is roughly agreed on, Aquatic Pools builds the pool design into the photographs as a design preview. The preview lets the homeowner judge size, shape and placement in the real setting and helps guide decisions before construction plans are finalized.

“Most people have a hard time picturing a pool from a drawing,” said Shane Bedard, general manager of Aquatic Pools. “When they see it sitting in their own backyard, next to their own patio, they can tell right away whether it’s the right size and in the right spot. It takes a lot of the guesswork out of one of the biggest decisions a family makes for their home.”

Building a pool along the upper Texas Gulf Coast also comes with conditions that builders farther inland may not face, including a high water table, expansive clay soils and exposure to tropical storms. Depending on the site, a pool may need engineered plans or a pile-supported foundation. Aquatic Pools manages city permits and homeowners association approvals for its customers. Permitting alone can take more than a month in some cities, and construction typically runs 30 to 60 days once the permit is issued and digging begins, though heavy rain can extend the schedule.

“Building near the coast is different,” Bedard said. “The soil, the water and the weather all change how a pool has to be built. We want every pool we build here to hold up for the long run.”

Aquatic Pools is a Builder/Installer member of the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), a national trade association that develops industry standards for pool and hot tub construction and safety and offers education programs for pool professionals. The company also takes part in the Pentair Partner Incentive Program and specifies Pentair equipment, from pumps and filtration to automation, on its new pool builds, installing other major brands when a homeowner requests them.

Bedard said fall and winter are a good time to start designing a pool, since permitting and construction can take several months for homeowners who want to swim by summer. The company also renovates existing pools, including replastering, tile, coping and decking work.
