Gender Diversity in Robotics and Manufacturing Improving According to Maggie Oltarzewski of BALYO
Maggie Oltarzewski, Solutions Engineer at BALYO, a leader in innovative robotic solutions for material handling, recently discussed gender diversity in robotics and manufacturing. Read in Robotics Tomorrow magazine.
According to Oltarzewski, the robotics and manufacturing industries are improving for women. “It is great to report that the general push for women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) (that started ten years ago) is paying off. There are significant numbers of manufacturing and robotics companies which have publicly stated the importance and value gender equality; they are eager to find female talent. This is applicable in robotics, manufacturing, as well as other engineering disciplines. For qualified female candidates, this can only work in their favor.”
The STEM push for women in pre-college, college, and post graduate degrees has made the market more accustomed to working with women. When women are more prevalent in those spaces, it raises the bar for everyone involved to get on board. There is still further to go for equality, but at least it reinforces the idea that women can, and should, have a place in STEM fields.
Robotics Tomorrow is an online trade magazine featuring products, companies, news, articles, and events for the advanced manufacturing, factory automation, and 3D printing industries.
BALYO is the leader in the design and development of innovative robotic solutions for material handling trucks. The company’s enhanced technological platform, VNA and REACH trucks are leading the warehouse, distribution center, and manufacturing operations with breakthrough robotic technology.
BALYO transforms standard forklift trucks into standalone intelligent robots thanks to its breakthrough proprietary Driven by Balyo™ technology. The geoguidance navigation system developed by BALYO allows vehicles equipped with the system to locate their position in real-time and navigate autonomously inside buildings/warehouses. Within the automated handling vehicle market, the profitability of purchasing is unmatched. Oltarzewski can also be seen on a recent company YouTube video here.
