Yellow Tail Tech joins the AWS Training Partner program to deliver cloud skills training to US-based job seekers with no IT background

Yellow Tail Tech, an edtech company based in Maryland and dedicated to helping people with no IT background secure their first high-paying job in tech, announced it is working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver AWS Training to learners remotely throughout the United States. Yellow Tail Tech has joined the AWS Training Partner program, which allows AWS authorized instructors to deliver training developed by AWS. 90% of Yellow Tail Tech’s learners have no formal IT background. Last year, the average starting salary of a Yellow Tail Tech graduate was more than $89K.

The estimated size of the global cloud computing market in 2022 was $545.8 billion. With a compound annual growth rate of nearly 18%, the global market is expected to reach roughly $1.2 trillion by 2027. The increasing demand for cloud computing services has created a global talent gap. In 2021, there were 7.8 million cloud jobs posted in 45 countries, but only 2.8 million cloud professionals, resulting in a talent gap of five million (source: Draup). Within this larger talent gap, there has been a surge in demand for DevOps engineers due to their critical role in achieving business goals through automation and orchestration processes.

Yellow Tail Tech will be integrating AWS Training and Certification’s curriculum, including hands-on labs and certification exam preparation, into its Cloud for Jobs program. This program will give learners the skills needed to succeed as AWS DevOps engineers. The program includes 43 modules and lasts for 36 weeks, covering a wide range of topics such as computing services, cloud and global network concepts, networking and storage services, monitoring, scaling, and database services.

Yellow Tail Tech was co-founded by Paloma Vilceus who transformed her own career from social worker to highly credentialed cloud professional. “As a career changer, the journey into a career in tech included a great deal of self-doubt and imposter syndrome. In addition to going into a lifelong learning process, I had to be proactive about networking with other women and people of color to fight my imposter syndrome,” she said. “I noticed that despite not finding people like me at my immediate job, people were transitioning and changing the field, not only with new demographics but with new perspectives from their unique cultural and technical backgrounds.”

“As cloud services continue to help organizations transform their businesses at a rapid pace, employees with the necessary cloud skills are in high demand. The AWS Training Partner program is designed for organizations like Yellow Tail Tech that meet or exceed rigorous criteria for delivering or offering high-quality technical training experiences. As part of the program, Yellow Tail Tech delivers AWS training to enable IT professionals and businesses to leverage the power of AWS,” Said Maureen Lonergan, vice president, AWS Training and Certification.

As an AWS Training Partner, Yellow Tail Tech will equip its students with the skills and credentials necessary to excel in cloud jobs. The courses prepare students for the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate certification. In addition, Yellow Tail Tech provides ongoing career support to help job-seekers secure apprenticeships and other practical experiences.
