Newsquawk offers free US election news monitoring tool

Newsquawk, a London-based financial technology company, has launched a ‘US Election Dashboard’ to help financial market participants to monitor in real time breaking news related to the US elections. The free tool tracks politicians, commentators, and news outlets. Users can use the monitoring tool without signing up to the service.

Users will be able to filter by ‘breaking news’, ‘commentary’, ‘politicians’ to see the updates they want. The lists are constantly being revised to ensure the content remains relevant.

Mehul Patel, CEO of Newsquawk, explained that “the news business has been changing, and the source of breaking news is often via social media channels. As a former financial markets trader, I know that the problem is the sheer amount of noisy updates, and having to filter through that noise to get tradable information. This can be a time-consuming endeavour, and our tool will help traders, brokers, journalists – whoever wants to keep up with the election – to narrow that amount of time down.”

“Clients have been asking us to develop a monitoring tool for some time,” adding that “there are many other services that charge an exorbitant amount for similar tools; we saw no reason why we couldn’t develop one internally at a fraction of the cost.”

“Our reporters and analysts at Newsquawk have been using the tool internally, and have been able to pick up stories and changing themes before it has been more widely reported, helping them stay ahead – to showcase some of the things that we do, we want to share this Dashboard with others.”

Newsquawk was formed in 2019 after a management buyout of RANsquawk, a news and analysis company which was founded in 2005. The business is now owned by its staff.

Patel says: “The challenge is transitioning an old-school squawk company into a fintech company – something that is a bit more suited to the modern day news cycle – by leveraging new technologies to develop tools traders and brokers can use to monitor, understand and analyse what news flow means for their trading position and outlook, and we will be rolling out more useful tools for our subscribers in the future.”

Newsquawk offers a no-obligation, one-week free trial of its subscription services so users can try its real time news feed and audio squawk service.
