2019 World Sensor Technology Innovation Summit successfully held in Zhengzhou

November 12 17:48 2019

November 9th the main forum of the 2019 World Sensors Summit and Expo — the 2019 World Sensor Technology Innovation Summit was successfully held. With the theme of “Perceiving the World and Win the Future” government leaders, authoritative experts and scholars and corporate leaders were invited to exchange the ideas, share the use cases, explore the new trends in sensor technology, cultivate the new advantages in the future development and promote the development of key technologies and equipment in intelligent manufacturing.

Zhuangde Jiang, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of Xi’an Jiaotong University as host.

Dr. Xiangli Chen, member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and senior consultant of McKinsey & Company, gave a report on “Strategic Development on a New Generation of Intelligent Manufacturing and Sensor Technology”. The maturity of sensor technology is one of the important factors to realize intelligent manufacturing and the rapid development of intelligent manufacturing applications requires further innovation in sensor technology. Dr. Xiangli Chen further explores the challenges and opportunities for the development of new sensor technology from the present situation and trend of intelligent manufacturing and digital operation.

Professor Alfredo Giacomo Cigada of Milano University of Technologies, Italy, gave a lecture on “Sensors: the Fundamental Brick of Every Measurement System”. Measurements are ubiquitous in our daily life and a variety of new sensors used in measurement are continuously being developed and used. However, when inserting the sensor into a complex measurement system, each part of the sensor must be consistent with the system as a whole. How to make the sensor use correctly without breaking the structure and function of the original system is worthy of our consideration, which requires the evaluation of the related problems that may arise by the sensor. This is a detailed introduction by Professor Alfredo Giacomo Cigada.

Toshinort Imai, sensing division director of Panasonic Industrial Devices SUNX Co., Ltd in Japan, gave a report about “Technology Innovation and Prospect of Sensors in Plant Automation”. With the commercial use of 5G and the large-scale practical application of artificial intelligence technology, the IoT market has exploded and the world sensor market including China is developing rapidly in the direction of automation and unmannedness. Toshinort Imai shares how Panasonic continues to innovate, the future development and trend of sensor technology as the Panasonic market expanding, sensors evolving and with a higher degree of automation demand changing.

Shane MacNamara, chief scientist of Sick Co.Ltd. in Germany, gave a speech on “The Impact of Industry 4.0 on Sensing”. Shane MacNamara introduces specific examples of sensor intelligence and sensor technology innovation and summarizes how Industry 4.0 is implemented. He mentioned that sensors are an important starting point for connecting Industry 4.0. With digitization sensors is no longer just stay at the level of “Perception”. They also start to “think”. Combining with the professional domain knowledge, the production process will be predicted by the analysis and processing of the data generated by the sensor.

Guangnan Ni, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave a report entitled “Develop the New Generation of Information Technology”. Guangnan Ni mentioned that network information technology is a field of technological innovation, which is the most concentrated, the most active, the most widely used and the most radiation-driven, and it is the competitive high land of global technological innovation. Software is the driving force to promote the development of a new generation of information technology and open source software will promote the innovation of the software industry. China should better develop open source software and meet the new development trend of open source chips. In the future, RISC-V is likely to become one of the mainstream CPU in the world, thus forming a pattern of Intel, ARM and RISC-V in the field of CPU.

Professor Lewis Elfed, IEEE sensors council director, optical sensors research centre, University of Limerick, gave a report on “Optical Fiber Sensors for Radiation Measurement in Modern Oncology Clinics”. Lewis Elfed introduced the improvement of the precision of microfiber real-time x-ray radiation sensors based on Plastic Optical Fiber (POF).The POF radiation sensor was originally a real-time dosimeter with a limited (millisecond) response time. The latest developments in this field can be traced back, including ultra-fast response time and sub-microsecond (about 20 nanosecond) resolution detection systems.

Finally Huifeng Sun, president of CCDI Consulting Co., Ltd., released the China (Zhengzhou) Intelligent Sensing Valley Strategy.

The successful holding of the forum will promote the exchange of the latest achievements in global sensor technology, industry and applications. It has promoted the cooperation in politics, industry, academia, research, application and media, and promoted the development of global sensors in a multi-level and all-round way. At the same time, it also promotes academic exchanges, industrial promotion and product technology display. It is of great significance to promote the sensor industry in Henan Province and Zhengzhou City, support the construction of modern information technology industrial system, realize industrial transformation and upgrade and promote high-quality economic development.
